N13Y, a highly modified P-51D, competed in the 1949 Thompson Trophy in this yellow / red scheme. Modifications included clipped wings and the removal of the belly scoop making for a very unique appearance. The restored Race 45 can be seen in all of its glory at the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, CT.
