Minnesota-based Sun Country Airlines was founded by a group of former Minneapolis-based Braniff employees and started service in 1983 with a lone 727. The airline expanded and later operated DC-10s along with their 727 fleet. The 727s lasted until the arrival of the 737-800s, and were all retired by 2002.
