In 2016, the transport wing of the Mexican Air Force acquired three 737-800s to be used as troop transports. The 737s replaced their long-serving 727-200s, and are painted in a dark charcoal gray paint scheme. Two were acquired new from Boeing, and one is ex-Transaero.
